Indiana Youth Tour

What are you doing this summer? Your electric co-op wants to send you on a weeklong, all-inclusive trip of a lifetime to Washington D.C. You must be a junior to apply. Monuments. Museums. Legislators. Friends. History. Trip of a lifetime.

During the month of June, Decatur County REMC sponsors an unforgettable educational adventure to Washington, D.C. for high school seniors-to-be. This seven day adventures includes:

  • Experience first hand how our government functions
  • Learn about the complexities of today’s electric utility industry
  • Discover the unique characteristics of a cooperative business enterprise
  • Meet and work with hundreds of their peers from throughout the United States

It’s an electrifying camp they’ll cherish forever!

  • A fun, powerful, and unique camp experience designed for 6th-grade students from across Indiana.
  • Kickstart your 6th grader’s summer vacation with exciting activities, games, and the chance to make new friends.
  • They’ll also gain knowledge about electricity in an engaging way. Most importantly, they’ll have a blast!

Cooperative Calendar of Student Art

You could have your artwork featured in the calendar and win $200.

Indiana K-12 students are invited to enter the Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest for a chance to illustrate an award-winning wall calendar. Each year, 13 first-place winners and honorable mention winners will have their artwork featured in the calendar — and will receive cash prizes. Winners will have their artwork displayed at the IEC Annual Meeting.

Page Day

Spend a day at the Statehouse with students from around the State. See the Senate in action. Tour the Statehouse. Pass your own legislation during a mock bill activity.

Page Day with the Indiana Senate gives students an opportunity to learn about their state government and how bills become law. Highlights include a Statehouse tour, mock bill activity, speakers and other educational activities. Students may have the opportunity to see the Indiana Legislature in action and meet their legislator. The program is open to high school students.

Youth Power & Hope Awards

Are you a middle schooler making a difference in your community? Tell us your story and you could be a winner.

The Youth Power and Hope Awards program honors students in fifth through eighth grades who are leaders in their communities. This program is open to all Indiana students in those grades. Potential winners could include church volunteers, active 4-H’ers, or those who support local hospitals or community organizations. Up to 5 qualified candidates will be selected as winners and will be featured in Indiana Connection magazine.
