Three cooperatives that have supplied energy and agricultural products to east central Indiana for more than 60 years have joined forces to form Hometown Energy LLC.

The joint venture between Decatur County REMC and Bartholomew County REMC, and Premier Ag co-op's LP gas service will allow area residents to participate in a streamlined LP gas metering program.

Hometown Energy will take elements from each of the three parent companies and combine them into one program. The company will combine the meter reading infrastructure employed by the REMCs and the LP gas service offered by Premier Ag.

Customers participating in the program will have their LP gas usage metered and read at the same time as their electric meters. LP gas and electric energy consumption can then be summarized on one easy-to-read statement. The LP gas usage will be monitored and the tank filled as needed.

Hometown Energy customers will also benefit by taking advantage of guaranteed LP gas pricing for the entire heating season with payment due each month, only after the fuel has been used.

Those wishing to participate in the LP gas program need not be REMC members. The program is available to everyone in the community at the same price and terms. Hometown Energy will also schedule individual meetings as needed to determine how best to meet consumer needs.
